From What I've heard this is how you remove gasoline odor from carpet.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Potatoes
  • Plain White Vinegar
  • Warm Water
  • Lots of towels
  • heavy weights
  • baking soda
  1. Step 1

Try just plain sliced potatoes. I have heard it does work, but have never tried it myself. Just slice them up and place them on the area over night.

  2. Step 2

If the potatoes don't work, there is one other method I know of. Gas is a petroleum product and is not really cleanable with water based cleaners. Therefore, I would suggest using a mixture of 1-2 cups plain white vinegar mixed in 1 gallon warm as you can stand water, use towels and weight such as bricks or dumbbells to wick the petroleum and water mixture out of the carpet.

  3. Step 3

Follow that with a rinse of warm water mixed with baking soda (1 1/2 cups per gallon.) Wick out all the moisture you can get out of it using the weights. When finished use something hot such as a hair dryer on low to prevent mildew from setting in.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't soak the area so much that you can't get all of it up.
