How to Use Aqua Globes
Aqua Globes plant watering system are hand-blown glass bulbs that you fill with water and stick into your plant's soil. The bulbs release water into the soil when the soil becomes dry. You may have seen Aqua Globes sold on tv on HSN or on infomercials and wondered if they work.
While there are many frustrated customers posting negative comments about Aqua Globes on the internet, I personally love them! My house plants constantly die because I either forget to water them or water them too much. My Aqua Globes have save my plants - they appear to be getting just the right amount of water, and they look great! Here how I have successfully used my Aqua Globes.

1
Fill the main bulb of your Aqua Globe with water. I hold mine under the kitchen sink faucet at a bit of an angle and fill until the main bulb is almost full.
-
2
Decide where you want to stick your Aqua Globe into the soil. I typically choose a spot about half way between the center of the plant and the edge of the pot.

3
Insert a pen, pencil, or other short stick fully into the soil where you want to insert your Aqua Globe, and then remove it. Make sure the pen, pencil, or stick is a bit smaller in diameter than the tube of the Aqua Globe. This creates a path for the Aqua Globe tube, preventing the glass from breaking or filling with soil. It also ensures that you will not hit any major obstructions (such as a large root) while inserting your Aqua Globe, which could break the delicate glass.
-
4
Push the tube of your Aqua Globe slowly into the starter hole. I typically insert mine at a slight angle, so that the tip of the tube is close to being directly under the center of the plant, a little more than half the depth of the pot.
-
5
Remove the Aqua Globe and refill it when it appears empty. Do not be worried if a little bit of soil is in the tube of the Aqua Globe. You can usually flush it out with water, slowly tipping the globe back and forth. For major soil obstructions, stick a pen or wire into the tube to free the obstruction.

Tips & Warnings
Advertisements claim that the Aqua Globes only need to be filled about once every two weeks. I find that the refill time varies depending on the type and size of the plant. This time may vary from two days to two weeks.
If the level of water in your Aqua Globe does not lower after a few days, there might be air trapped in the globe. Remove it from the soil and then replace it.
If you make a starter hole that is wider than the diameter of the Aqua Globe tube, the globe might be too loose or even tip. Remove the globe, press the soil firmly, and start over by making a smaller starter hole.
You can purchase Aqua Globes through tv advertisements, online, or at many retail gift shops.
Aqua Globes are made of glass and will easily break or shatter if you force it into hard or very dry soil. Make a path (as described above) prior to inserting into the soil.
