Instructions

    • 1

Schedule your scavenger hunt to take place during the weeks or months leading up to a holiday or special occasion.

    • 2

Create a master list of events for each team (group of family and friends that live in close proximity) to try and capture on video and upload to a YouTube or ChannelMe (see Resources below) page created for the event. The following are sample events dreamed up for a Christmas-themed hunt.

    • 3

Try to reach high score status by videotaping as many of the following events as possible:

      • Go shopping dressed in a full Santa costume = 50 points
      • Interview holiday shoppers as if it's for a news program = 50 points ea.
      • Make out under the mistletoe = 50 points
      • Change clothes with a team member while out shopping = 50 points
      • Have the whole team sit on Santa's lap = 50 points
      • Volunteer at a soup kitchen = 100 points
      • Make an apology you've been procrastinating about = 75 points
      • Celebrate as if you just got a ticket to "Oprah's Favorite Things" show = 50 points
      • Sing holiday carols at a retirement home = 150 points
      • Make a heartfelt toast to family and friends = 100 points

    • 4

Once all the videos are uploaded, compile a "best of" montage and burn it as a gift to everyone who participated.

    • 5

Calculate the points and award prizes to the winning team members. If there are not too many members on the winning team (and you are feeling generous) consider giving the ultimate device for capturing and uploading videos: the Flip Video Shoot and Share Camcorder (see Resources below). It's genius! Hopefully, a member of the winning team will volunteer to host the next hunt-that's how the social circle works-you've got to give in order to receive, baby!

Tips & Warnings

  • Initiate hunts with customized event lists for birthdays, anniversaries or "just because." Soon you'll be hosting screening nights to view your library of clips accumulated from all your circle's social events.
