Things You'll Need:
- A mirror
- Different Shirt styles to try on
-
Step 1
There are three main men's shirt collar styles: the point, the spread and the button down. Examine your face in a mirror. Look at your face shape and your neck thickness.
-
Step 2
Try on different shirt styles to see which is most flattering to your face. A pointed men's shirt collar is best for wide necks and rounder facial shapes. It lengthens the neck giving a leaner illusion.
-
Step 3
A spread or cutaway works better for men with long faces and skinny necks. Add a tie, especially one with a wide knot, and you create a fuller look to the face.
-
Step 4
If you are aiming for a preppy look, consider a button down men's shirt collar.
-
Step 5
Look at your self from different angles in different shirts. A shirt collar is an extension of your face, using the tips above select the one that is the most flattering, to help you feel and look your best.
