Things You'll Need:

  • Course Materials
  • Determination
  • Multiple Sources
  1. Step 1

Develop a 3D picture of the brain. This is the most difficult aspect of these courses. You should use multiple pictures and cross-sections to accomplish this task. There are several 3D atlases of the human brain online as well.

  2. Step 2

Understand the terminology. Just like in basic anatomy, often the name of a structure or nerve path will tell of its destination or function.

  3. Step 3
    Brain Nerve Pathway

Do Practice problems. This is often the best way to test your understanding of the material.

  4. Step 4

Compare cross-sections. This is the best way to see how the brain anatomy changes as you move around the skull. Pay attention to the regions of specific nuclei as they are important for nerve pathways.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't Give Up!
  • Use an online atlas - most are free
