Things You'll Need:
- Hedgeapples
- Peppermint Oil
- Spray Bottle and Water
- Plastic Boxes
- Sticky Boards
-
Step 1
Clean your house and get rid of clutters. Spiders love clutters, especially if it involve cardboard boxes. So replace all your cardboard boxes with plastic ones.
-
Step 2
Rid the outside of your house of vines and plants that are against the side of the house. This will keep spiders from living in these plants and crawling in through the windows.
-
Step 3
Buy hedgeapples (they are also called hedge balls or osage orange). These are not too easy to find because they only grow in the midwest and only during autumn (which is ok because usually that is when spiders are seen the most). You can buy these online or if you're lucky, find them at the grocery store.
Place hedge apples around your house, especially areas where spiders like to live such as behind the water heater. -
Step 4
Fill a quart size spray bottle with warm water and add about 30 drops of pure peppermint oil. Shake well and spray around the house (inside and out). Make sure you get all the nooks and crannies that spiders like to hide in. This is my preferred method and it works wonder.

Step 5
Another option is to get sticky boards that are used to trap mice. Spiders will crawl onto them and get stuck. Just remember to put these where nobody will accidentally step on. You can also staple them to the walls and ceilings.
I don't recommend this method if you have a spider phobia though because you'll have to eventually get rid of the boards once they are filled with spiders and most likely these creepy crawlies will still be alive.
