How to Mostaccioli with Rich Tomato Sauce

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 c.
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 1/2 c. drained mushroom pieces(4oz. Can)
  • 1/2 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons salad oil
  • 1 1/4lbs. Ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon basil
  • 1/8 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 bay leaf
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 1/2c. tomatos (6-oz. Can)
  • 1 c. beef stock (or 1 cup water plus bouillon cube)
  • 8 oz. Mostaccioli
  1. Step 1

    Saute onion, celery, mushrooms and garlic in salad oil in heavy saucepan.
    Add ground beef and continue cooking until meat begins to brown. Add all other ingredients except mostaccioli. Bring to boiling point, stirring frequently.

  2. Step 2

    Reduce heat and simmer slowly about 1 hour. Cook mostaccioli in rapidly boiling salted water 12 to 15 minutes or until tender. Drain thoroughly.

  3. Step 3

    Place cooked mostaccioli on heated platter or serving plate. Pour over tomato sauce. Serve with grated Parmesan or cheddar cheese. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
