How to Change a Username on EBay

People decide to change their eBay usernames for all sorts of reasons. You may want your username to reflect your business or the item niche you're selling on eBay. You may have been recently married and for some odd reason, your wife doesn't appreciate the humor in your old username: Ibreakforhotchicks1212. Or you may just not like your old username. Fortunately, there is a way to change it.

      Sign onto your eBay account and go the 'My eBay' section. Click on the 'My Account' section at the top of the page.

      Look on the left sidebar and you will a section called 'Personal information'. Click on the link and it will bring up your account type, username, password and other information.

      Notice the edit button after the User ID section. Click on edit. This will take you to the change user ID page.

      Enter your new username in the box provided and click enter. Congratulations, you have just changed your eBay username. You will notice a special icon near your username. This let's people know you have recently changed your username and will disappear after 30 days.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to check out eBay's user ID policy as email addresses and website URL's are not allowed as usernames on eBay and other rules may apply.

  • Never make your username a hint to your password or link the user ID or password in any way.
