It is a must in my home for all my children to know how to make chocolate chip cookies. I'm always looking out for recipes to shorten my time in the kitchen and lengthen my play time with the kids. This is a chocolate chip bar recipe sure to please the whole family. So if you want a quick and easy chocolate chip bar recipe, then this How To is For You.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 1/2 stick margarine or butter
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg OR 2 teaspoons flaxseed
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 8 oz chocolate chips OR carob chips
  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9x11 pan with non-stick spray.

  2. Step 2

Cream together: 1 1/2 sticks butter or margarine (softened) and 2/3 cup sugar.

  3. Step 3

If using an egg skip this step. To replace egg with a healthier alternative ... mix 2 teaspoons of flaxseed with 2 Tablespoons of warm water. Do so until thickened.

  4. Step 4

Add 1 egg OR the flaxseed mixture to the creamed butter and sugar. Stir in.

  5. Step 5

In a separate bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder. Sift together.

  6. Step 6

Combine flour mixture and creamy mixture together until well mixed. The dough consistency will be stiff.

  7. Step 7

Stir in the 1 teaspoon vanilla and 8 oz chocolate chips (use carob chips for a healthier version).

  8. Step 8

Spread the dough on to the pan. Bake for 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown at 350 degrees.

  9. Step 9

Remove from pan to cool. It is best to cut in to squares while still warm.
