Citrus fruit can lighten blemishes

If you have a blemish anywhere on your skin, you are not alone. They are a common problem for people of all ages. But they can be easily treated. You can combine some foods and herbs to create remedies that will lighten your blemishes naturally.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make a natural cleanser to wash your face. Take some strawberries and mash them. Strain the juice and rub the strawberries onto your face. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then wash it off. If you have oily skin, make a cleanser by combining 2 cups of rolled oats, 1 cup of almonds, 2 teaspoons of dry lavender, 2 teaspoons of dry peppermint, and 2 cups of white cosmetic clay. Put the almonds, herbs and oats into a blender and grind. Then combine the clay with the ground herbs and store it in a covered container. When you are ready to use it, take one heaping teaspoon of the mixture and add enough water to make a paste. Gently rub it onto your skin and rinse it off with warm water. If you have dry skin, you can use sesame oil as a cleanser. Rub it on you face and neck and then gently remove it with a warm wash cloth. Natural cleansers are gentle on the skin. Soaps are too harsh.

  2. Step 2

Now that your skin is clean, you are ready to work on your blemish. Take grated potatoes and wrap them up in a cloth. Add a few drops of lemon juice and honey and rub onto your face. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse it off. Potatoes have a natural bleaching effect which can lighten dark spots and reduce a blemish. You can do this once every two weeks. For a daily treatment, mix lemon juice and tomato juice rub, and rub it on your face with a cotton ball. This will lighten skin tone and reduce.

  3. Step 3

Take care of your skin to prevent more blemishes from occurring. A blemish is caused by pimples, boils, acne and rashes. Keep your skin clean to prevent your pores from becoming blocked. Don't scratch or rub your skin as this can irritate it and lead to swelling which might cause a blemish to occur. Wash your hands before treating your skin.

on 3/27/2009 Great article and it brings back memories. As a kid I had freckles and was even called that by my classmates. After we ate grapefruit for breakfast my mother had me rub the inside of the grapefruit skins all over my face and leave it for a while then rinse the juice off. Probably didn't work as I spent most of my time out in the Kansas sunshine.
