How to Play Dice by House Rules

The number of active memberships in an organization centered on a certain game which uses dice as the sole randomizer has increased with the advent of the internet. For enthusiasts who gather with others to play this category of game, there will always be an opportunity to have discussions on the rules of the game when played. For the well organized memberships, the rules of the game may vary as new members create opportunities to play in a venue of choice. Below you will find how the “House Rules” of dice games can work to the benefit of the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Attend a gathering of players or club members for the purpose of playing a favorite dice game. For the experienced player, research the different opportunities to play. Finding a great venue where you understand the rules already is the preferred choice. The best games are tournament-type dice formats that will reward good play with benefits at the end of play. These benefits can range from points added to a leader board or experience label.

    • 2

Follow the known rules first. Most developed dice games have a set of original game rules to apply first when warranted. If a situation arises where the rules are not well designated, the host of the event will designate a rule set called “house rules.” Following this rule format to resolve issues of play will show respect to the game, the host and the other players.

    • 3

Maintain a log of rules you have encountered in the past while attending other events or social play. By knowing how to avoid being ignorant about the possibilities of actions during play, you can be a better prepared player who does not get into a situation of loss by not understanding the game’s possibilities.

    • 4

Develop house rules for your favorite dice game. Host an event or gathering of friends to play the dice games you all enjoy. Understand that if a house rule is in effect, it may alter the game in a negative way. If you understand the dice game you play and the rules that affect the game, you will become a better player with better chances of winning.
