Even though everyone loves Gmail, there are some subtle ways that it can be improved, such as the Better Gmail add-on for the Mozilla Firefox Browser. It adds a lot of aesthetic changes, as well as a few functional improvements, and is definitely worth installing if you are a Gmail addict and Firefox user

From Quick Guide: Mozilla Firefox Download Guide
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make sure you are using the newest form of "Gmail." The easiest way to do this is to log into Gmail and see if there is an "older version" option at the top. If there is, then you should be good to go. Conversely, if there is a newer version option you have an outdated version and need to update.

  2. Step 2

Install the Better Gmail Add-on. You can do this from either the Firefox add-on page, or from "Lifehacker." Click "Download."

  3. Step 3

Restart your Firefox browser once the download is complete. Once you do, go to the "Tools" tab and select "Add-ons."

  4. Step 4

Highlight the "Better Gmail" add-on and click "Options." For general enhancements, check the top box (Force Encrypted connection).

  5. Step 5

For the Inbox count and agenda show options, check the second and last boxes.

  6. Step 6

For advanced users, there are two sets of macros that can be engaged. The "Lifehacker" website will provide you with more information on what these macros can do.
