Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Stop by your local U-Haul to rent a U-Haul pick up truck. Visit the U-Haul website or call 1-800-GO-U-HAUL (1-800-468-4285) to find a U-Haul location near you.
-
Step 2
Know the U-Haul hours of operation. Store hours vary by location, but generally, U-Haul is open Monday to Thursday from 7am tp 7pm; Friday 7am to 8pm; Saturday 7am to 7pm; and Sunday 9am to 5pm.
-
Step 3
Request to rent, or reserve for a future date, a U-Haul Pick-up Truck. Inquire about the dimensions and features to determine the appropriate size and model. For a 4 bedroom house, select the "Moving Truck" model. For a 3 to 4 bedroom house, select the "Household Mover" model. For a 2 to 3 bedroom house, select the "Easy Loading Mover" model. For a 1 to 2 bedroom house, select the "Thrift Mover" model. For an apartment, select the "Mini Mover" model. And for small in-town jobs, select the "Pick-up Moving Truck" model.
-
Step 4
Know the capacity, dimension, fuel, and features of the U-Haul Pick-up Truck. The U-Haul Pick-up truck has a volume of 75.5 cu. feet, maximum loading capacity of 1,530 lbs., gross vehicle weight of 6,400 lbs., and maximum empty weight of 4,870 lbs. The U-Haul Pick-up Truck has the following features: Automatic transmission, Air conditioning, Gentle-Ride suspension, Fuel-efficient V-8, SRS/air bags.
-
Step 5
Understand how U-Haul calculates the one-way rental rate. According to the U-Haul website, cost for the one-way rate is based on the size of the truck (in this case, a Pick-up Truck), the pick-up and drop-off location as well as the length of the rental. The cost of mileage is not absorbed within the rental price. This rate is determined based on the mileage used.
-
Step 6
Provide your credit or debit card number to complete the transaction. You must select a pick-up date or delivery service date in order to place an order.
