  1. How to Buff Floors

    • 1

Sweep the floor with a dry broom or dust mop. Sweep or slide the dust mop on the floor like you are going down isles in a grocery store. Start on the side of the floor and in the back. Go across the whole floor to remove all dirt, trash and debris. You may also mop it if you wish. If you do, let it dry completely before buffing.

    • 2

Check the buffing machine. Buffing machines usually have a very long cord in order for you to reach a far distance. Make sure your cord is free of any damage. Tilt it to look at the bottom.

    • 3

Choose proper pad and solution. Most of the time you will want to apply three different solutions to the floor. Stripping, wax and polish is typically the order. Depending on what you wish to do to the floor, you need to select the proper pad and put down the proper solution.

    • 4

Start using your machine in the back of the room on one side, working your way down in rows. Buff in a slow, up and back pattern. Don’t let the machine take off on you. Controlling it is hard at first but gets easier with increased use.

    • 5

During the cleaning, check pads and brushes to ensure cleanliness. If you are doing a big area, you may have to stop to put new ones on. Put down more solution as you go and as needed. Make sure you go over the solution once or twice before moving to the next section.Remove pads and brushes when job is complete. Roll up cord and put machine away.
