How to Choose a Wedding Registry
-
1
First, familiarize yourself with the different types of registries available. Department stores and big box home retailers offer everything from bedding to cookware and beyond. Online registries let you choose items from a variety of online retailers, for a truly customized registry experience. Honeymoon registries allow your guests to contribute to parts of your trip, whether upgrading your seats to first class or treating you to a romantic dinner. Mortgage registries let you save up for a place of your own. Charity registries let you give to others on your special day.

Look at each option’s benefits, along with possible downsides. Most store registries offer a completion discount on the items left on your registry after your wedding. Some offer rewards programs that give you a percentage back on all the items purchased from your list. On the other hand, be aware of any fees involved (some mortgage registries require one), and some won’t let you remove the money until you’re definitely purchasing a home. If plans change, this could prove troublesome, so know what you’re getting into before you sign up.

After fully researching the options, decide which ones appeal to you. You may want to choose more than one option. This will allow everyone to choose the way they feel most comfortable shopping. While younger guests will likely be aware of honeymoon registries and the ease of shopping from an online registry, your grandparents may feel more comfortable being able to choose a gift at a local store.

Sign up, and have fun choosing the items your guests will get for you. No matter what options you choose, you can rest easy knowing that you’ll have the best wedding registry for you.
