Pokemon is a popular trading card game to play, with hundreds of cards available to buy, sell and trade. Although you can sell Pokemon cards through some local game stores, selling cards online opens up a nationwide, or even worldwide, market. There are also a number of websites that offer detailed information on Pokemon cards, which can help you identify and price your cards.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pokemon cards
  • Shipping supplies
  1. Step 1

Go to a website such as FindMagicCards.com, and choose Pokemon from the drop-down menu. Type the name that appears on the upper left-hand side of the Pokemon card in the search box.

  2. Step 2

Look through the list of matching cards to see the one that matches the number on the lower right-hand corner of the card. This number gives the specific card and the set it’s from. The picture shown should match the card you have.

  3. Step 3

Look at the typical price given for this Pokemon card. This gives you an idea for what other sellers are asking for the card, and what you might expect to receive.

  4. Step 4

Decide if you want to sell each Pokemon card individually, or group them into lots. You may want to sell cards with high values individually and sell lower priced cards in groups. You may also want to include one high-value card in the lot to draw attention.

  5. Step 5

Rate the condition of each Pokemon card you want to sell. You might use a numbered scale from 1 to 5, or use terms such as factory sealed, mint, near mint, good and used.

  6. Step 6

Look for an online auction site that sells Pokemon cards. You may want to use a general site, such as eBay, or a specialty game site, such as BidWicket. Find out what the rules and costs are for using the site, then set up an account.

  7. Step 7

Set prices and shipping costs for your Pokemon cards or lots. Make sure the prices are high enough to cover any auction or credit card fees, as well as the cost of postage and shipping supplies.

  8. Step 8

Post your Pokemon cards or lots on the auction website, with an accurate description of each card or lot. You may want to include the card’s number, as well as the name, in the title so collectors can find it easily.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may want to include links to the website you used for research for more information and a picture, or you can scan the cards and post your own pictures.
  • You can use eBay's Completed Auctions link on past Pokemon card sales as an indicator of what individual cards generally sell for.
  • Be sure to check out all the terms and conditions of an online auction site before you sign up and start selling.
