Decorating for Christmas can be expensive. But with a little creativity and these easy tips, you can find everything you need to create a holiday wonderland in your home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Artificial evergreen wreaths (various sizes)
  • Plastic or glass ball ornaments
  • Tinsel
  • Christmas ribbon, wire edged
  • Clear glass bowls and vases (various sizes)
  • Empty boxes (various sizes)
  • Wrapping paper
  • Gift ribbon and bows
  1. Step 1

A Christmas tree is the most traditional and essential of all holiday decorations. But even small artificial or real trees can be expensive. An alternative to a Christmas tree is to decorate a Christmas wreath. This is actually a tradition dating back even further than trees! Decorate an inexpensive, artificial evergreen wreath with ornaments, tinsel and wired ribbon, exactly as if it were a Christmas tree. If you're a creative personality, give your holiday decor a funky style by hanging several wreaths is a collage all on one wall or even hang them, horizontally, one atop another, from the ceiling. It doesn't matter where or how you display your wreath. The important element is that you have a piece of greenery decorated and displaying the festive colors of Christmas.

  2. Step 2

Create an interesting tabletop display by placing plastic or glass ornament balls inside clear glass vases and bowls. Try mixing in some tinsel with the ornaments for an extra glow. Place the bowls and vases on a side table, coffee table, or even grouped together in the center of a dining room table for a splash of color and cheer.

  3. Step 3

Wrap empty boxes with colorful Christmas paper and stack them all decoratively in a hallway or living area. Decorate them with gift ribbon and bows for an extra flair. Christmas always brings with it thoughts of gifts and the joy of giving, so pay homage to this with a display of faux presents, beautifully wrapped in an artistic display.

  4. Step 4

Dollar stores and bargain warehouses have a lot of ready-made Christmas decorations as well. Look for cute figurines to decorate tabletops, inexpensive stockings and stocking hangers, holiday dishes and serving ware, and even artificial sweets and breads. Get creative with these objects. For example, place an array of fake breads, cookies and sweets in a basket with wired ribbon forming a bow on the handle for a great centerpiece, or make a whole village arrangment of the tiny figurines.
