This is where most of the firefighters in the state of Tennessee come to get their initial training, as well as where they come for career development training. If you are looking for a fire department to work for that will provide you with one of the best firefighting training programs in the country, then consider becoming a firefighter in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

    Become a Firefighter in Chattanooga, TN

  1. Step 1

    Talk with the City of Chattanooga Personnel Department about attending the Chattanooga Fire Academy. You can find all of their contact information on their website.

  2. Step 2

    Complete an intensive 26 week long course at the Chattanooga Fire Academy. During your 26 weeks you will get certified in CPR, EMT-IV and Vehicle Extrication, as well as learn about firefighter safety, fire behavior, personal protective equipment, ladders, ventilation, forcible entry, fire streams, fire service rescue, Haz-Mat, domestic violence, ropes and knots and building construction, among other things.   3. Step 3

    Gradate from the Chattanooga Fire Academy and be placed in an open position.

  4. Step 4

    Advance your firefighter career in Chattanooga. If you already have firefighter training under your belt and are looking to find a job in Chattanooga, then you will need to contact the City of Chattanooga's Personnel Department.

  5. Step 5
