Ghost Hunt in Saskatchewan

Although Saskatchewan is just over 100-years-old, it's a province with a very enigmatic history. Known as the "land of living skies," Saskatchewan is the home of many non-living things that appear to be very much alive--including ghosts. To say that history has a way of repeating itself in Saskatchewan is an understatement. The ghosts that roam the prairie landscape, and inhabit the homes and businesses of Saskatchwan, have done their best to make sure that they are not forgotten. Whether you wish to ghost hunt in Saskatchewan or you're curious about Saskatchewan's haunted history, there are several haunted places worth exploring.

Visit the "Kerrobert Courthouse." Now used as the Town of Kerrobert Municipal, the Kerrobert Court House was constructed in 1920. The building is haunted by at least two ghosts that are believed to be a Judge and a murder victim. There have been reports of loud sounds coming from the basement, footsteps on the stairs, and the sight of a figure draped in what appears to be a black robe. The evidence room, which was located in the basement, held the skull of a victim from a 1931 murder. The murder trial was defended by former prime minster John G. Diefenbaker. Several staff members of the town office have confirmed that they've heard, seen, or felt something that they can not explain.

Check into the "Duck Lake Hotel" in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan, but be aware that one man never checked out. The spirit of a man who fell to his death from the top of the hotel, is said to haunt the Duck Lake Hotel. On the eighth of each month, the incident replays itself: the ghost of a man can be heard screaming as he falls to his death.

Visit a sick friend or relative at the Regina General Hospital and make sure they are being treated by a living nurse, not a ghost nurse! Patients and staff have reported seeing an older nurse in an old-fashioned nurse uniform checking in on patients and rushing around the hallways with a clipboard.

Explore the grounds of Fort Battleford. This location is said to be haunted by many ghosts. Strange occurences have been reported by guides and visitors of the Fort, as well as residences in the historic Town of Battleford. Some of the unexplained things that have been reported include: apparations of soldiers, a surgeon that roams the officers' quarters with a shotgun, items moved from one location to another, and strange sights and sounds from the location of a mass burial site, which holds the remains of eight aboriginal men who were setenced to death by public hanging in 1885.
