How to Draw Modern Male Clothing

Fashion has always been loud, and it seems like it just gets more vivacious as time goes on. Both female and male modern clothing is fun to create and draw. It is not difficult to draw male clothing, you just need to use your creative mind and pay particular attention to detail. A fashion reference is also a very helpful tool when creating modern male clothing.

Instructions

1. Search online or in a men's magazines for modern trends of men's fashion. This will be a good tool to reference when you start drawing your modern male clothing (see Resources below).

2. Start by sketching a quick outline of a male figure. Remember that fashion drawing is quick and doesn't emphasize the details of the human figure; its main focus is the clothing and how it falls on the body.

3. Draw in the outline of the clothing. Start with the shirt. Draw either short rectangular shapes for short sleeves, or longer rectangular shapes for longer sleeves. Draw a square figure on the male's torso for the shirt. Add buttons and/or a design on the shirt. You can also add a collar by drawing two shapes along the neckline that resemble a long, thin triangle, having the thicker end at the front and the thinner end on the sides and the back of the neck. Then draw the bottoms and shoes. Draw the bottoms by drawing two larger rectangles on the legs of the male. Add the shoes by drawing two rectangles and then shape the front into a smooth half circle for the front of the shoe. Then, on the back of the shoe, erase the top line of the rectangle and make it come closer to the bottom line. This will then give the illusion that the shoe has a slight heel, as you would see on actual men's shoes. Draw in any accessories that he might have, such as sunglasses, a bag or a hat.

4. Draw in the detail to the clothing and accessories. Make sure the clothing shows creases and as much detail as possible so that the viewer can see how it fits on a person.

5. Use a lot of color to enhance your picture. Fashion is all about color, so you need to show that with your drawing. Make it obvious to the viewer what is the strongest piece of clothing by making a design on it or making it more vibrant. Make your images stand out to the viewer, because fashion is very flamboyant, so your work needs to be as well.
