Explore the Marble House in Newport. This house was built in 1892 and was designed by Richard Morris Hunt. William K. Vanderbilt (of the prominent Vanderbilt dynasty) owned this house, and now it serves as a museum of sorts, with various decadent rooms preserving the ambiance of the time. There are lovely ceiling murals, carved woodworks, chandeliers and an elaborate, grand staircase. Also be sure to check out the teahouse (built in 1913) located on the grounds of the house.
