A top hat is a traditional accessory for all snowmen, and can be made using materials found in the home and at craft stores. This project is quick and easy and will complete your snowman's look.

Starting Your Snowman's Hat

Step 1

Stand a large coffee canister on the black felt and trace a circle that is slightly larger than the base. Cut out the circle.

Step 2

Wrap felt all the way around the canister and glue the seam together. Trim any excess.

Step 3

Place the felt circle on top of the coffee canister and glue it down to make the top of the hat. Trim excess fabric.

Step 4

Use a bowl at least 10 inches in diameter to make a circle on a new piece of felt. Trace and cut it out.

Step 5

Place the wrapped canister on the large circle and glue together to create the brim.

Step 6

Cut a slit into the center of the hat brim and insert a long wooden dowel, leaving several inches out at the bottom. Secure the hat in place by inserting the dowel in the top of the snowman's head, until only the hat is visible.
