1. Get in shape. Professional wrestling takes an enormous amount of stamina and strength. Plan a workout routine that includes weights and cardiovascular exercise.

2. Study hard. You probably watch WWE wrestling on a regular basis, but it is also important to be familiar with the long history of the sport. Study DVDs of old and new matches to learn the major stories and developments in wrestling moves and characters.

3. Create a character. Make sure that you bring your own personality to the table, but work on creating a persona that is memorable and marketable. The trick is to be almost over the top without looking ridiculous.

4. Make an audition tape. This tape will show off your moves and, more importantly, your personality. Create a good balance of introduction, interviews and wrestling footage.

5. Consider a training program. There are many wrestling gyms that offer training programs. Not only will you be able to learn the fundamentals of the sport and develop your moves, you'll make important networking contacts. There are many people trying to break into professional wrestling; knowing someone in the business is very helpful.

6. Present yourself to the WWE. Mailing in a tape blindly is the last resort. Watch the WWE website for occasional open auditions.

7. Keep wrestling. If the WWE is not accepting applications and audition tapes, don't be discouraged. Keep developing your skills. Start your own wrestling league. Constantly improve the quality of your audition tapes.
