How to Dress a Child Like Bob the Builder for Halloween

Bob the Builder is a popular animated character, the star of his own children’s television show. The stop motion animation program first aired in 1999. Bob has his own construction yard and on the show he and his friends work on renovation and construction projects. • Yellow hardhat
• Work boots or brown shoes
• Overalls
• Flannel shirt
• Tool belt
• Toy tools for belt

Instructions

1. Purchase a small yellow construction hardhat, which is one of the distinctive trademarks of Bob’s costume. Child novelty hardhats are available online. You can also purchase a Bob the Builder hardhat and tool belt, for considerably less than the complete costume.

2. Find a comfortable pair of brown shoes for the child to wear. Bob’s shoes are brown work boots, but you want your child to wear something she will be comfortable wearing when trick or treating.

3. Purchase a pair of blue overalls. Start your search in a thrift shop.

4. Find a warm flannel shirt for the child to wear under the overalls. Bob’s shirt is a gold and orange checkerboard pattern, yet a long-sleeved shirt in similar colors will work.

5. Locate a small tool belt and tools for the child to wear. You can purchase a child’s toy tool belt, purchase the Bob the Builder tool belt, or improvise with a small adult tool belt. Plastic toy tools will work to embellish the belt.

6. Dress the child, putting his overalls over his shirt, and the tool belt around his waist. Don’t forget to put on the yellow hat and brown shoes.
