Things You'll Need:
- Picture of the bridesmaids' dress
- Bridesmaid or maid of honor
-
Step 1
Make sure that the jewelry you choose goes with the neckline of the dress. For a high neckline, consider a choker necklace. For a scooped neckline, go with a necklace that is a bit longer. Match earrings to the neckline as well. Small earrings look great with high necklines and longer earrings are elegant with lower necklines.
-
Step 2
Choose a jewelry combination that matches the color of the bridesmaid's dress. You can also go with jewelry of a contrasting color to create a contempary look.
-
Step 3
Be sure that your maid of honor's jewelry stands out. Although, the jewelry doesn't have to be elaborate in any way, go with a piece that is a bit different. This will help to set apart your maid of honor.
-
Step 4
Look for jewelry that will enhance the beauty of your bridesmaids. Many brides only consider the dress when trying to choose jewelry for a bridesmaid. This is a big mistake. Make sure that the jewelry compliments each woman's skin tone and facial features. This will ensure each bridesmaid looks great on her big day.
-
Step 5
Have a bridesmaid try the jewelry on. Have a bridesmaid or the maid of honor join you as you shop for jewelry. Have her try the jewelry on so you can see how the piece looks when it is worn. This will help you to make a better decision.
-
Step 6
Keep your budget in mind. While you may want to go with diamonds and precious jewelry for your bridesmaids, you must consider your budget. Don't go overboard with the price. Sometimes, simple really is best. You may even want to consider using the jewelry as a gift instead of having to purchase one later.

on 9/30/2009 Choosing jewelry is micromanaging to the nth degree! No bride should dictate hairstyles, makeup, or jewelry. Giving the jewelry as a gift is pretty cheap....if it's for YOUR wedding, then it's not really a gift for the bridesmaid.
