Instructions

    • 1
Opalescent glitter makes these boxes sparkle.

Mix glitter, glue and water in a bowl. You should have about three parts glue to every one part water. You can use as much or as little glitter as you want.

Cut or tear the red, yellow and orange tissue paper into small squares. They should be no more than 1 1/2 inches long. You will need a fair number of these squares.

    • 3
If you want all of your leaves to look consistent, then use a stencil. If you want each one to be unique like the real leaves on the trees, then you may wish to cut them out by sight.

Cut brown leaf shapes out of the brown tissue paper. You can use the stencil or you can freehand the leaves.

Layer the red, orange and yellow tissue paper onto the box. Use plenty of glue by brushing a layer on under the tissue paper, then laying the tissue paper on top and adding more glue. You must be gentle to avoid tearing the paper. Keep going until the entire box is covered with the bright colors of fall foliage.

    • 5

Lay the brown leaf shapes over the colored tissue paper. They will stick to the wet background beneath but you will need to add a little more of the glittery glue mixture to make the leaves flat. They will stand out against the bright background.

Let the box dry. This may take up to 48 hours. Once it is completely dry, you can place gifts in it or use it as a fall decoration.
