If you have been a victim of the notorious SmitFraud virus, you may have downloaded an infected video codec, and installed the fake anti-spyware program called Ultimate Cleaner 2007. Read on to learn how to uninstall Ultimate Cleaner 2007 as well as the SmitFraud virus.

    Remove Ultimate Cleaner Fake Anti Spyware

  1. Step 1

    Download and install these software tools (See Resources below for download links): *SmitRem--to remove Spyaxe and other similar spyware infections *SmitFraudFix--to fix most SmitFraud infections. *CCleaner--a utility that will remove temporary files, cookies and registry problems.*HijackThis--a very useful tool to find and remove most viruses and Trojan horses.

  2. Step 2

    Open SmitFraudFix and select Option 4 to check for any available updates. Next, reboot your computer in Safe Mode. You can initiate Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key on the keyboard while your computer boots and then select the "Safe Mode" option from the menu that appears.

  3. Step 3

    Open the SmitRem folder and double-click RunThis.bat. This will run the SmitRem program, which will remove any temporary files stored on your hard drive. Open SmitFraudFix. Select the first option to scan and then select the second option to clean

  4. Step 4

    Double-click the RogueRemover and run it to remove any other rogue spyware applications installed with the SmitFraud attack.

  5. Step 5

    Run CCleaner while you are still in Safe Mode. Click "Analyze and Clean." Click the on the "Issues" button and then "Scan and Fix any Registy issues CCleaner discovers." Run the scanner once more to make sure your computer is clean.

  6. Step 6

    Open and Run HijackThis to remove any remaining issues. You must be careful when using HijackThis because you can accidentally delete an important system process. (See Warning below) You can use the Online HijackThis Scanner to verify whether a file is legit or malicious (See Resources below).

  7. Step 7

    Restart your computer in normal mode after running HijackThis. Next, click Start >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs. Locate and remove the following entries:Ultimate Cleaner 2007Ultimate DefenderVideo Access Codec

  8. Step 8

    Run an up-to-date antivirus to make sure your computer is completely rid of rogue spyware programs
