Instructions

Think about your courtship, engagement, wedding and honeymoon, and take notes on the things that made those times special for you and your spouse. Pay special attention to "firsts," such as your first kiss, first dance or even your first argument.

    • 2

Choose a day to celebrate your anniversary. For some, it might not be possible to celebrate on the actual day of your anniversary because of other commitments, so be sure to choose a day when neither of you will have to spend time answering phone calls from the office or thinking about work instead of focusing on the celebration.

    • 3

Put together a walk down memory lane. You can do this by putting together a photo album or a collage, or even a Power Point presentation on the computer. This trip down memory lane will serve to set the mood for a romantic wedding anniversary, and will remind you and your spouse of the fun and wonderful times during the past 10 years. Including some pictures of children are important, but be sure not to over use them or the conversation might turn from you as a couple to who is going to take Johnny to ball practice next week.

    • 4

Plan a romantic meal. Maybe you go back to the restaurant where you had your first date or you arrange to have a meal of the same food that was served at your wedding reception. Either way make sure the entire meal is filled with happy memories.

    • 5

Buy or do something for your spouse--something sentimental to commemorate 10 years of marriage. It might be a special anniversary band or it might just be a poem that expresses how much you love being married. Whatever it is, make sure it comes from the heart.

Tips & Warnings

  • Get a babysitter for the night and splurge on a hotel room or a quick trip to someplace that's not home.

  • Expect tears. They aren't always a bad thing.

  • Try to recreate as many of your firsts as you can. Go to where you shared your first kiss or where you had your first dance as a married couple, and relive the memories together.
