Things You'll Need:
- 1 large mouth mason jar
- Cheese cloth
- Rubber band
- Sprout seeds of your choice
-
Step 1
Gather the sprout seeds you choose to grow. Rinse the seeds under running water.
-
Step 2
Adding water to the seedsPlace the seeds in the bottom of the mason jar. Cover with 1 to 2 inches of water. Cover the jar with cheese cloth and secure the cloth to the top of the jar with a rubber band. Let the seeds soak 12 hours or overnight.
-
Step 3
Tilted sprout jarAfter the initial soak, drain the seeds. Cover them with water once again, swirl them around in the jar and then drain the seeds. After rinsing and draining, prop the jar up so that it tilts with the opening downward. This allows all the water to drain and helps prevent mold growth.
-
Step 4
Full sprout jarContinue to rinse and drain at least two times per day, until you have a sprout growth of 1 to 2 inches. Depending upon type of seed used, this can take 3 to 5 days.
