Tailgate at PSU Football Games

Tailgate parties are a time-honored tradition at Penn State. They are sometimes more popular than the football games; some people will attend a tailgate but not the game.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You'll Need:

  • friends
  • food
  • alarm clock
  • alcohol
  • trailer/winnebago/tent/car/chairs

    How to Tailgate PSU-Style

  1. Step 1

Figure out your setup. Decide whether you can tailgate out of the back of your car, whether you can procure a trailer and how many chairs you need to fit under your canopy, for example.

  2. Step 2

Look up regulations and permitted areas for tailgating at www.psu.edu. Find out how early you are allowed on the premises and whether you need a permit for the area you want to park in.

  3. Step 3

Arrive at your designated area as early as possible to ensure a good spot.

  4. Step 4

Be sure to bring plenty of refreshments. Some good choices are rolls and lunchmeat if you don't have a grill, burgers and hot dogs if you do, or get more creative and whip up some dips and spreads to have with pita, chips, and veggies.

  5. Step 5

Add in 50 of your best friends and you have a PSU tailgate! As long as you keep a laid-back attitude and share the fun with all your fellow Nittany Lions, you'll make JoePa proud.
