This no-sew fleece pillow is a great lounging pillow to toss on the floor in front of the television or on a teenager's bed. It is made of nonfraying fleece fabric that comes in a multitude of solid colors and novelty prints. Make your teenager a pillow for his favorite sport's team, a juvenile print pillow for a young child or a simple color-block pillow to match any decor. This no-sew fleece pillow is so easy it could be used for a class or club project for kids. It is quick to do, so it can be completed in one sitting.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3/4 yard fleece fabric
  • 18-inch pillow insert or stuffing
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pins
  1. Step 1

Cut two pieces of the fleece fabric 26 inches square for the no-sew fleece pillow cover. If the fleece fabric has a picture, center it in the middle of your square.

  2. Step 2

Place the layers on a flat surface with the wrong sides together. If there is no wrong side to the fleece, either side will do. Line up and match the edges of the fleece. Trim if necessary.

  3. Step 3

Cut 4-inch squares from each corner of the two layers of fleece fabric. Discard the 4-inch squares.

  4. Step 4

Cut 4-inch deep fringe, 1 inch wide, on all sides of the 26-inch fleece square. A sharp and effective pair of scissors is essential for this project.

  5. Step 5

Pin the layers together to prevent slippage and shifting of the no-sew fleece pillow cover.

  6. Step 6

Tie the fringe together in a knot. Match the bottom fringe to the top fringe. If you are tying an overhand knot, then continue to tie an overhand knot for each knot. Be consistent. Tie all knots snugly and in the same direction.

  7. Step 7

Place the pillow insert or stuffing inside the no-sew fleece pillow cover after three sides have been knotted and the pins removed.

  8. Step 8

Continue to knot the fourth side to close the no sew fleece pillow.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you would prefer nubbier knots, then cut the fringe 2 inches deep and tie as before.
  • For different-sized no-sew fleece pillows, cut your beginning squares the dimensions of your pillow, plus two times the length of your fringe. For example, a 14-inch square pillow with 4-inch fringe would be cut 22 inches square.
  • Cut narrower strips for the fringe and tie beads at random along the edges of the no-sew fleece pillow. Thread the beads on the ends of the fringe and knot.
  • All fabric has a grain. One side will have a stretch while the other side will not. When tying the knots, be careful not to pull the knots out of shape on the stretch sides.
