How to Make a Soap Turkey
This cute little turkey makes a great bathroom decoration around Thanksgiving. It is easier than a soap carving, which makes it fun for younger children. Use a small flock of these little feathered fellows to bring the Thanksgiving season to every room of your house.

This type of soap is perfect for this project.
Round off the corners of the bar of soap with the sharp edge of the scissors. An adult should do this step. If you are using soft soap, you do not need to round off the corners.

These colors are good for turkey feathers.
Cut out turkey feathers from the construction paper. Most people prefer fall colors like red, yellow, brown and orange.
-
3
Glue each turkey feather to a toothpick. At least an inch of toothpick should stick out beyond the edge of the paper. While the glue is drying, you can work on other parts of your turkey.
-
4
Cut the shape of a turkey head and neck out of the brown poster board. Draw on the features with a black marker or use colored construction paper to make a beak and wattle for the turkey.
-
5
Shape two orange pipe cleaners into turkey feet. You can do this by cutting and twisting the pipe cleaners to make claws or by bending them. You will need to leave at least half an inch of "ankle" to attach the feet to the body.
-
6
Glue the head and feet to the bar of soap. The feet should stick out from under the soap. The head can either be turned to the side or you can glue it by the thin edge of the poster board so that the beak is facing forward.
-
7
Stick the toothpick feathers into the turkey's side to form wings and back to form a tail. The wings should only be one or two feathers, but the tail can be as full as you wish.
