Instructions

  1. How to File Fingernails

    • 1

Clean the nails first by removing any old nail polish or dirt that has accumulated under the tips. An orange wood stick, wrapped in a piece of a cotton ball, can be dipped in soapy water to remove stubborn dirt.

    • 2

File the nails by starting with the pinky nail first. Work from corner to middle in one grand stroke and then the other side from corner to middle in one stroke. Continue to do so until the desired shape is achieved.

    • 3

Shaping the nail while filing, check from the palm side of the fingers for the shape. This is the only way to determine the correct shape of any nails that overhang the end of the fingers.

    • 4

The file should be used at an angle and file from the underside of the nail.

    • 5

Once the desired shape is achieved, your nails are ready to be further manicured.

Tips & Warnings

  • Filing forcefully or back and forth will cause the nail to split and be less strong.

  • Don't share nail files with other people.
