Mix 3 cups flour and 1 cup water into a bowl. This will create the papier mache mix for the project. Set the bowl aside.

    • 2

Lay out a couple of sheets of old newspaper on a table or counter and cut up the rest of the newspaper into small 3-inch strips.

    • 3

Blow up a round balloon until it is a little bigger than a softball. Tie the balloon and set it on the old newspaper.

    • 4

Dip the strips of newspaper into the papier mache mix and then layer the strips over the whole balloon. Continue this process until there are three layers of newspaper around the balloon. This will help make the project sturdy when everything has dried.

    • 5

Let the balloon and papier mache dry for 12 hours. The easiest way to do this is to just the leave the balloon overnight.

    Decorating the UFO

    • 6

Use a knife to cut the dried papier mache balloon in half. Put one half to the side or discard it.

    • 7

Wrap the half of balloon with tin foil and keep it as tight as possible against the surface. Dab on bits of superglue if you need to keep it attached.

    • 8

Wrap a paper plate in tin foil as well and secure it with some dabs of superglue.

    • 9

Place the half of the balloon directly in the center of the paper plate with the open side down to form the UFO body. Use superglue around the edges to make sure that it stays on.

    • 10

Glue on various colored and sized bottle caps to add details and colors to the UFO. You can also use a marker to draw in details like doors or windows.

    • 11
