Back to school anxiety is common. Whether a student is experiencing stress related to the courses they're scheduled to take or simply due to the fact that they don't have anything cool to wear, it's normal to feel stress when school comes back into session.

Make sure that each and every item necessary for school is in your possession. Lists are most often available to parents and students that show exactly what they need with regard to supplies.

Watch your sugar and caffeine intake. This is important whether you're a kindergarten student or a college freshman. Parents, it is important for you to relax a bit as well. The younger children especially have a somewhat psychic connection with you and can tell when you are under stress.

  3. Step 3

Communicate with other students of different ages. Let students know that the stress related to beginning the school year can afflict all other age groups as well. A second grade student having a discussion about their stress with their teenaged sibling is a good place to start.

  4. Step 4

Dress accordingly. It is important at any level of education that students feel good about what they're wearing. It's amazing just how clothing and jewelry can add to a student's confidence level when they're a little woozy about the school year starting.

Tips & Warnings
  • Breakfast is a very important beginning to each day--especially school days.
  • If a student seems to be under stress that doesn't seem to flow with the norm, consult your physician.
