How to Perform a Plie Squat

The plie squat is an exercise that activates your inner thigh. It helps to tighten and tone all of the thigh, but concentrates more on the inner thigh, which is where many woman have trouble toning.

Instructions

      Choose a set of dumbbells that are a comfortable weight. Place them in each hand on the upper thighs.

      Stand with your feet slightly wider than your hips. Your toes and knees should be turned out in a comfortable angle. Keep your back straight.

      Bend your knees and lower your hips into a squat, without moving your pelvis forward or backward. Keep your abdominals contracted.

      Straighten your legs back up to starting position. Do not use your hands to push yourself off. Squeeze your buttock muscles at the top.

      Repeat this motion for the your desired number of repetitions.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure that your knees do not go over your ankles when you squat.

  • If you are just staring out to exercise, you do not need to hold weights in your hands.

  • The heavier your dumbbells the harder the squat will get.

  • Always be sure to ask your doctor before you start a new exercise routine.
