How to Make a Fleece Scarf
A fleece scarf is a fashionable way to stay warm in winter, or a cute gift idea that is sure to be appreciated. You don't even need to know how to sew. You can whip up these soft scarves without threading a needle. Fleece scarves are also a suitable project for a Girl Scout troop or for children's arts-and-crafts classes.

Instructions

-
1
Cut a strip of fleece that is 72 inches long and about 2 feet wide.
-
2
Determine how long you want the scarf's fringe to be. Cut a square that size from each corner of your piece of fleece. For example, if you want fringe that is 7 inches long, cut a 7-by-7-inch square from every corner of the fleece.
-
3
Fold the fleece in half lengthwise with the "wrong side" or back side of the fleece touching.
-
4
Slice half-inch wide fringe the same length you used for the square cutouts along the entire short edges of the fleece.
-
5
Knot fringe pieces together, two by two, so that all of the fringes are knotted. If desired, slide beads onto the fringe and tie another knot for added embellishment.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't mind a tiny bit of sewing, beautify the scarf even more by sewing a button onto the scarf about where it would fall on the wearer's chest. Cut a slice on the opposite side for a button hole.

Since most fleeces are sold at an avg width of 60", if you want to make gifts, you could easily get four scarves out of two yards. JoAnn Fabric always has fleece sales going on. Great pattern, good explanation. Thanks!
