Step 1
Look online to see if there is already a lawsuit in progress for the damages you, too, have suffered. For instance, if you developed a liver disease as a direct result of a high blood pressure medication, chances are, other patients suffered, too.
-
Step 2
Consult an attorney who handles civil lawsuits and make an appointment to meet him to go over the merits of your case. If he thinks you have a good chance of winning, he will take the case and get the ball rolling.
-
Step 3
You can assist the attorney in placing ads in newspapers and magazines, encouraging other who were damaged by the same product or service to join the class action lawsuit.
-
Step 4
In a different scenario, you may receive an invitation to join a class action suit in the mail if your name was on a list of damaged customers. This happens when a large company, such as a cell phone provider or an insurance agency is found guilty of wrongdoing and they are forced to contact you to inform you of your share of the settlement.
-
Step 5
Most class action lawsuits are settled out of court. The attorney’s will take a large chunk of the settlement and the remainder will be divided among the other plaintiffs.

on 9/11/2008 Thanks for sharing this information. I almost feel like naming this company, or writing an article about this particular company who has several class action suits against them, but I won't slander them here because of the respect I have for eHow ..
