Occasionally, you question its cleanliness so you hire a carpet cleaning service. But do you know what questions to ask them? How do you know if they are a reputable carpet cleaning service?

1. Use word of mouth. The best way to find a good carpet cleaning service is to find people who are happy with their cleaner. Carpet is expensive and the wrong company can leave you with wet carpets that attract mold or use substandard chemicals that leave your carpet bleached and streaky.

2. Ask the carpet cleaning service how long they have been in business and how large of a workforce they employ. While a one-person carpet cleaning company can be top-notch, a large company won’t stay in business for long if they do shoddy work.

3. Ask the carpet cleaning service if they also clean upholstered furniture. Some will offer a free cleaning of a furniture item if you purchase the cleaning of another item.

4. Request the name of the carpet cleaning service’s liability insurer. Call the insurer up and request a copy of the insurance policy. They won’t give it to you but at least you’ll know if the company is really insured.

5. Remain in your home during the carpet cleaning process. Workers are more likely to be respectful of your belongings if you are nearby.
