The Huntress in Shadowbane has many useful powers and skills. She can attack her enemies with a bow, a spear, ice or lightning. She has a powerful ally in her black panther pet. The Huntress's many long-distance ranged attacks make this profession a good choice for the Elf, which has low Constitution, but high Intelligence and Dexterity. It's possible to create a powerful Huntress very quickly by maximizing certain skills and abilities early in the game.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose your base class. This can be either Fighter or Rogue. The Rogue-based Huntress has powers such as Hide and Sneak, which are very useful for stealth attacks. Fighter is a poor choice in most cases because it deducts ten points from Intelligence. However, the five point increase to Health, Constitution and Movement Rate may be helpful for certain races. Fighter also grants access to many weapons skills at level 1.

  2. Step 2

Select your gender. It must be female.

  3. Step 3

Choose your race. The Huntress may be Aelfborn, Aracoix, Centaur, Elf, Half Giant, Human or Irekei. The best races for Huntress are Aelfborn and Human. If you're planning to choose another race, be sure to choose the one with the highest possible maximum Intelligence and Dexterity.

  4. Step 4

Select starting trait runes such as Lightning Reflexes and Eyes of the Eagle. Look specifically for runes which increase Intelligence, Dexterity and ability with the bow. Decrease base statistics as necessary so that you can afford the starting runes you want. Leave at least three spaces open for discipline runes.

  5. Step 5

Increase Constitution in Character Stats early in the game. Then increase Dexterity and Intelligence. Don't put too many ability points into Strength or Spirit. Train skills such as Bow and Dodge.

  6. Step 6

Promote to Huntress with the Huntress trainer in southeast Aeldreth. Train skills such as Bow, Way of the Gaana, Fury of Ice and Call the Sky's Fury. Increase your skill in Cry of Vashteera, Vashteera's Blessing and Beast Lord's Boon to Grand Master level as soon as possible. Train Hide only as much as is needed to get Sneak. Then increase Sneak skill to Grand Master level as well. Train Medium Armor and add points to Strength only after level 20.

  7. Step 7

Travel to a training city through the Runemaster when you can no longer train skills in Aeldreth. Train bow to between 100% and 150%. Then purchase a Lightforged Wind Bow of Mayhem from the Weapons Fence or another player in Sea Dog's Rest.

  8. Step 8

Purchase discipline runes such as Commander and Archer from players in Sea Dog's Rest. Also, apply a high level Intelligence or Dexterity rune later in the game.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you would like to develop skills in a weapon other than bow, train that weapon to between 100% and 150% and do not train any other weapon.
  • The best disciplines will depend on your chosen race, base class and weapon.
  • Get some Elven chain armor if your Huntress is an Elf.
  • You can't take your pet with you when you're in sneak mode.
  • Go to the training cities fully buffed and with an empty inventory. Use sneak if possible. Get 50,000 gold pieces or less from the city's banker and complete your training as quickly as you can.
