-
Step 2
Try taking a teaspoon of Swedish bitters each day.
-
Step 3
Use herbs that help address hypothyroidism symptoms. These include ginger, kelp, black cohosh, nettle, mugwort, bladderwrack, avena sativa, cayenne and bayberry. Make certain that there are no drug interactions with any prescription medications you are on before taking any of these herbs.
-
Step 4
Take flaxseed oil capsules or tablets, which may help increase hormone production. Dosage should be 1,000 to 1,500 mg two to three times daily.
-
Step 5
Consider trying Ayurvedic remedies, such as cinnamon, coleus forskohliiv and paonia ginseng, which can aid in easing symptoms. It's best to see an Ayurvedic practitioner who can guide you in making the best remedy choice.
-
Step 6
Exercise. Doing daily aerobic exercise may help with raising your thyroid hormone levels.

on 9/30/2008 I agree that natural remedies are great, especially as a complement to Rx. My only concern is that if one *forgoes* Rx, health can be severely comprised: brain tissue can of a hypothyroid person can show up on cat scans like that of a drug addict or severe Alzheimer's person: riddled with holes.
I will have to try the cinnamon...I already use the cohosh, for my hot flashes!
