How to Draw a Monkey Head

Monkey heads look good when drawn around borders of a notebook or along the corners of a living room. Just make sure first that the monkey heads fit the décor. A few simple steps will help you draw a monkey head.

• Paper
• Pen or other drawing instrument

1. 
    

   Draw the monkey’s face. Use one circle as his jaw and two directly above it as his eyeballs. Fill in dots for his pupils and nostrils. For a monkey head in profile, use one nostril dot.

   Add his ears. A semi-circle works as an ear. Use only one ear for a monkey head in profile, two for a frontal view.

3. 
    

   Illustrate hair to round out the back of his skull. Jagged lines work well as messy hair. Shade hair shape in as desired. A monkey head should have a protrusion or bump in the back. This differentiates a monkey head from a human head.

4. 
    

   Give him a neck. Two simple lines coming down from the bottom of his face work as a neck. You now have your fabulous monkey head.

Tips & Warnings

• If you want the monkey to appear as if he were beheaded, substitute a big “X” for his eyeballs and perhaps have his tongue hanging out. Also use jagged lines at the base of his neck for a serrated look. For a really grotesque effect, add blood drops and a nearby hatchet.
