Instructions

    • 1

Harvest the blooms from the aloe plan. Do this either in the spring or the fall, or both depending on how your aloe plant blooms. Some aloe plants don’t bloom for a long time and then all of a sudden, they bloom. Some bloom once a year.

    • 2

Place the cheesecloth in the bowl, leaving some of the cloth hanging over the sides. This makes it easier to lift all of the soaked blooms up without spilling. Cheesecloth is needed to strain the blooms.

    • 3

Chop up the aloe blossoms, enough for 1 cup, and place in the large bowl on top of the cheesecloth. Pour 1 cup of water over the blossoms. The blossoms need to be completely covered with water.

    • 4

Leave the blossoms sitting in the water overnight.

    • 5

Wait until morning and then pull the edges of the cheesecloth together and squeeze into a small bowl. Pour the liquid from the small bowl into a perfume spray bottle. Store in a cool and dry place.

Tips & Warnings

  • The aloe perfume can be used for about 1 month from the time of making it.

  • A perfume spray bottle will work better than a regular perfume bottle. You take a chance of getting dead skin cells in the bottle if you place the bottle opening against your skin.

  • Do not put the homemade perfume on just before going outside. The direct sunlight could cause the skin where you applied the perfume to turn brown and it might be hard to remove. If your skin starts burning or itching or you get a rash in the area where you applied the perfume, use soapy water or rubbing alcohol to quickly wash off the perfume.
