How to Roll the Dice to Get Out of Jail in Monopoly

Monopoly is a game of skill and luck. If you strategize and have excellent dice rolling skills you can win the game each time. Luck is a slight advantage as well. You can roll the dice to land on certain properties or get out of jail without it costing you a dime in a few ways. When you are low on money or you choose not to pay to get out of jail, the method that you roll the dice will help. However, if you are just starting out in the game, waiting to roll the dice may be a disadvantage to you. This is because your opponents continue to purchase properties while you are stuck in jail.

Instructions

Learn the rules of the game. There are three ways to land in jail while playing Monopoly. These are rolling doubles three times in a row, receiving a "Go to Jail" card or landing on the "Go to Jail" space. If you end up in jail, you can roll the dice to get out or pay $50. Doubles can get you out, when you choose to roll the dice. However, you only have three chances to roll the dice in this method. The earlier rules of the game stated that you could not conduct business while in jail. The official rules now state that you may collect rent, buy houses or make deals with your opponents while in jail.

Grab the dice in one hand. Shake them in the palm of your hand. You should do this between three and five times.

    • 3

Play with the dice between your fingers. This will give the dice a bit more action than just shaking them.

    • 4

Throw the dice. Bring your wrist back to your body and swing it outward. Loosen your thumb and first finger and let the dice roll out of your hand.

    • 5

Practice. You will need to practice your throws to be able to roll doubles every time you land in jail. However, soon you will be able to roll any combination of numbers with a slight flick on the wrist.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember, if the game has just started you will want to pay to get out of jail until you have mastered rolling the dice. Properties go quickly, especially when you cannot buy any.
