How to Toast Pumpkin Seeds

October is a time when millions of people are sticking there hands inside of orange slimy pumpkins pulling out the guts and the seeds so they can cut funny faces or intricate designs transforming a pumpkin into a porch lantern. But what do you do with all the seeds? Plant them next spring? Maybe, but how about eating them? That's right you can eat pumpkin seeds just like sunflower seeds or any other nut.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pumpkin
  • Oven
  • Warm Water
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Salt
  1. Step 1

    Pre-Heat the oven to 350 degrees F

  2. Step 2

    Take your leftover pumpkin seeds and was them under warm running water. A colander works nicely here.

  3. Step 3

    Spread the clean seeds over the cookie sheet, and sprinkle them with salt. Recommended: 1 1/2 tsp. But you can add salt to taste.

  4. Step 4

    Bake for 20-30 minutes. Until the seeds are dry and crisp.

  5. Step 5

    Take them out of the over, let them cool, and enjoy. You can store them at room temperature in an airtight container.

on 9/9/2008 LOVE those pumpkin seeds, fried up in olive oil with garlic is great, too.
