Step 1
To effectively burn lots of calories you are going to need to participate in some sort of cardio. (Running, Swimming laps, Exercise bike, etc.)

Cardio should be done around 3-4 times a week for 20-30 minutes. Keep in mind the higher the intensity of your cardio, the more calories will be burned.

If you think you are overeating you might want to reduce your calorie intake. This will help you burn calories more efficiently. Lowering your fat intake and upping your protein would be a good idea to help maintain muscle mass.

on 9/7/2008 running is awesome but you can get really bored if you don't have a goal. i'm using a plan that keeps me in line. there's one in fitness mag this month thats good for beginners
