Step 1
If you want to have a theme for your collage, it is best to already have images already in mind. This is easy if you already have a collection of clippings from magazines and books. If not, you will need to search through magazines and other sources for the right pictures for your collage.
-
Step 2
You can use almost anything in a collage to get the effect you want. Clippings from magazines, books and other paper images, stamps, paint, small objects of any type, as long as they will adhere to your backing or paper. Cloth, string, leaves, shells all can be used.
-
Step 3
You can use whatever type of glue or adhesive that will hold your objects and images onto the page. Use thick paper, cardboard, canvas or wood for a base for your collage. I like to use Mod Podge as a glue for my collages. It holds paper and small objects and cloth to almost any surface. It also dries well, leaving a clear coating.
-
Step 4
When making a collage, it is important to design first, glue second. Arrange your images and objects on the paper how you want them, trimming any pieces to size. Then glue on your bottom layers first, working your way up.
