Here's how to find the best members for your rock band.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start with people you already know. Ask your friends if anyone they know plays the instrument you want to add to your band.

  2. Step 2

Go to shows of similar local artists and ask band members if they know anyone looking to join a band.

  3. Step 3

Put posters describing your musical project on bulletin boards at the local university or record stores.

  4. Step 4

Post an add on Craigslist.org. This is a last resort in most cases.

  5. Step 5

Describe what age you expect band members to be.

  6. Step 6

Describe the instrument you are seeking. Describe the music you want to play.

  7. Step 7

Choose a time and a public area where potential band members can audition for your whole band.

  8. Step 8

Don't be too picky and reject everyone who tries to audition.

  9. Step 9

Someone is taking time out of their life to be at this audition. Be respectful of their abilities.

  10. Step 10

Judge musicality on the ability to play in tune and on time. Find out if they can read music or chords. Can they write their own parts? Where else have they played?
