Here's how to get on the good side of your art history professor.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Even if you aren't an art history major, you can be one of the best students in the class. Arrive with a sincere interest in art history.

  2. Step 2

You are learning about both history and art. Use your knowledge of history to place the artwork in time. Use your knowledge of color, composition, taste and design to make observations about the visual and tactile nature of the artwork. Art history professors love students who balance a knowledge of art and history.

  3. Step 3

Participate during in-class discussion. If you don't know what to say, make an observation about the slide that no one else has noticed, but is still relevant. Teachers are always looking for new observations about the material.

  4. Step 4

If you are an Art History Major, treat your time in class as if you will be remembered as one of the professor's best students ever.

  5. Step 5

If you act like a great student in class, you will push the overall level of the class higher. Professors love this. Don't feel pressured to dumb yourself down because of peer pressure.

  6. Step 6

Even if the level of the class is under you ability, take it seriously and participate. Don't give off the vibe that you are superior to everyone else.

  7. Step 7

Change your viewpoints when participating in discussions. Don't view everything one way, or your comments will become predictable.
