Things You'll Need:
- Bag of short- or long-grain rice (we prefer Basmati, but this is not necessary)
- Water
- Medium-size sauce pan
- Fork
- Stove
-
Step 1
Fill any size glass you wish with rice. Pour into pan. Fill that same cup with cold water twice, and pour into pan before placing on stove. Swirl it until the rice is evenly distributed over the bottom of the pan.
-
Step 2
Set burner to high and cover (leave a crack). Once it boils, remove from flame and stir rice until it's again evenly distributed across the bottom of the pot. Return to heat on low. Leave a very small crack in the lid.
-
Step 3
Leave rice untouched for 18 minutes, then remove from heat. After 5 minutes, fluff with a fork, almost as though you're raking leaves. Empty pot onto a plate, platter, or bowl of your choice. Bon appetit!
